Text browsers

If you really can live with just the text of a web page, and one of the above solutions is not working on a particular site for you, check into a Terminal-based text browser like lynx or (preferably, in my book) elinks. You will get the text of a web page in the glorious monospaced font of your choosing! If monospace is too hard on the eyes, you could change your Terminal prefs to use a different font (not really recommended unless you'll never use the Terminal for anything other than this tip here), or you can copy-and-paste into a decent lightweight word processor like TextEdit or Bean.

Packages for both lynx and elinks are out there for OS X, and they can also be easily installed via MacPorts or Fink.
