I presume you're talking about cost...

See, it wouldn't be "free" in another sense either -- the Apple-proprietary software on the OS install media is covered by the same EULA that casts Hackintoshes in a bad light. I could be wrong -- if the Microsoft Installer package installs without prompting the user for any kind of agreement, then strictly speaking, the ball's in Apple's court again, and you really are free to use this on non-Apple hardware.

Until it's established that this truly is free of licensing restrictions (and there's nothing mentioned in the body of the hint to suggest that any attempt has been made) then it's highly likely you're not allowed to use this software on non-Apple hardware.

In the world outside USA (e.g., EU), EULA:s are generally not considered valid contracts. Hence this hint is legal in big parts of the world.
