So just to be sure, this isn't technically "free," since you need to own a Snow Leopard install disk, something that not all Windows users will have, unless Apple still has Boot Camp as a free download somewhere these days.

Boot Camp is, in fact, available to download for free; the two "updates" to 3.1 found at Apple Support Downloads (http://support.apple.com/downloads/#bootcamp) are actually full installs; I've used them myself on new installs (one of the ways to get Win7 working on an unsupported system, like my 2006 Mac Pro.)

Well Apple must have modified it, they are now updates. I just tried it, and it asked for Boot Camp 3.0.

Boot Camp 2.1 is downloadable and is a full and upgrade install in one, but 3.0 is only available on the Snow Leopard DVD, and it needs to be installed before the 3.1 update will work.

Yes... but no ordinary Windows user would want to read HFS+ disks would they. The only people who want this, are those who run OS X anyway....

Or a publisher, or a print shop, or a CD mastering service, or DVD mastering service... in fact, any business with a need to read files held on HFS+ formatted removeable storage could benefit from following this and not buying a Mac. |
