That's not true at all. Sure, a program written in any programming language can be buggy (this is the fault of the developer, not the language), but the JVM itself is slow, unstable, and lacking in features. Compare this to Objective C/Cocoa programs, which can be very stable, fast, and feature rich.

I am tired of people saying that things have to be in Java because of this platform independence. Really, the majority of the code for a program should be in C (or C++), which will compile anywhere. You then only have to have separate interfaces for each platform, which is not that much work (especially since "each platform" is at most 3: Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X).

Yeah, I could see QT as a viable alternative in some situations. Or Tcl/Tk. Maybe even Ajax. |
