Poll about the Lion preview announcements
My greatest need for improvement is not yet on the list. I move around in the Finder very fast, and frequently the Finder is not sufficiently responsive. 1. Frequently when I click in the title bar or a window and move the mouse--the Window does NOT move! The time form mouse-down to being able to move a window is much too slow for me. Frequently, I get into trouble, because rather than moving the Window, which I clicked, I move the item (or activate the item if it does not have a move option), which was the mouse location before I clicked. I have a MacPro with 8 cores. I would like to see one core solely dedicated to the Finder! 2. Occasionally, in column view, the content of the view updates too slow. Hey, how about putting some smarts into the Finder to remember, say, the last 20 folders a user had viewed (of course that feature exist already), but now use that info to preload the display data for these folders into RAM at boot time. This should allow instant display of the last ten folders I had used. It is all about user experience, as Steve Jobs very well appreciates. Steve if you read this, maybe this is the time for one of those hands-on moments you are famous for. ---
