I have no objection to ads. It's the tracking I object to. I see no reason that the web can't make money with simple ads the way that it has always been done in newspapers, radio and TV. You place ads based on the content being presented, not on a clandestine tracking of every individual viewer.

I installed and tested two extensions at the same time, 'Incognito' and 'Google Alarm'. The test was very simple: I have first deactivated 'Incognito' then visited different sites where 'Google Alarm' signalised presence of Adsense or Analytics, activated 'Incognito', reloaded the page but in all this sites 'Google Alarm' still shows active Adsense or Analytics. |
