Eddie - a programmer's text editor
Authored by: joeyblades on Oct 11, '10 12:49:19PM

Every few years I go out in search of a better programmer's editor than emacs. The only thing that ever came close was Alpha, but even it was a distant second (and it cost money and it was only available on Mac OS).

Emacs posesses a lot of powerful features not generally found in other editors: keyboard macros, mark rings, kill rings, context sensitive completion, regular expressions, incremental search, rectangular region functions, frames, ediff, shell interface, blah, blah, blah... But the real beauty of emacs is that on that rare ocasion when the editor fails to meet my needs, I can simply extend it.

emacs is the One True Editor.

Everything else is just -- not as good.
