Time Machine just does it in 10.6.3
Authored by: schwern on Sep 27, '10 10:00:36PM

I just got a new MBP, dropped the drive from my old machine into it and hunkered down to figure out how to get Time Machine to use the old backups on the new machine.

After reading all the comments and trying to figure out where to get fsaclctl I gave up and just ran Time Machine. It asked politely 'Would you like to reuse the existing backup "/Volumes/Backup/Backups.backupdb/Your Computer" with this computer?' offering "Do Not Backup Now", "Create New Backup" or "Reuse Backup".

So I guess it just does it now. This is a 10.6.3 machine.
