Really? Apart from the link to artist's profile in Ping it does not add anything to non-Ping users. You could already directly go to the song, the album, the artist, or the genre by simply clicking on the respective link. And finding one target to click on might be considered easier than using a dropdown menu. And getting to the Ping profile also was just another click away from the artist's page.

To me any additional text inside a list crosses the line between useful and seriously annoying. The arrows were by their nature content-neutral, even a simple Ping icon would not be neutral. You could re-purpose the arrows to point into your own library, that just does not work as well with an icon that already has a different meaning.
