New logic board for older G5 iMacs with bad capacitors
Authored by: acr8tv1 on Jul 21, '10 11:24:40PM

Had the same problem - Apple store replaced the logic board September of 08 - Bought the 17" imac g5 in March of 05. It suddenly stopped working on July 5th 2010. Took it to the same apple store and they wouldn't touch it - but said it was probably a faulty power supply. Beacause of the age of the computer they couldn't order the part even if that was the problem. Took it to an authorized Apple repair place...they took two weeks to get back to me and then only when I showed up in the store. They supposedly had it open in back and it appeared to be the power supply...I figured a few hundred bucks. i get home and they call and tell me the logic board is shot ! $743!!! That logic board is only two years old....I'm going to be a nuisance and see if that gets me any place. The arrogance of apple is starting to grate.
