Console.app freezes on launch

The maintenance scripts should keep these log files under control, so it may be worth checking to see that they run on schedule.

Since the advent of 10.5 most log rotation has been delegated the the newsyslog daemon. Unless you are running a fax server, or using accounting then running those "maintenance scripts" are useless. Apple has also delegated some log rotation to the application that produces the log. This is the case with the asl log. I don't have much time to look in to this but I believe that in 10.5 there should be no more than 2 logs plus 1 log for each login user for a period of three days.

Sometimes I wonder why Apple wants to reinvent the wheel. And you are welcome.
