Console.app freezes on launch
As in previous OS X releases, maintenance task often miss execution.
You can use JAW PseudoAnacron to ensure those task don't get missed (http://www.jaw.it/pages/en/x_misc.html), just add it to startup items. Disclaimer: Please notice that I'm the developer, but it's free (well, donationware).
Console.app freezes on launch
I, for one Mac OS X Hints reader, don't mind developers posting links to their apps, when they are relevant to the discussion at hand. Just my two cents! Since we've got you here, is PsuedoAnacron Snow Leopard compatible? Or is there a need for it? I seem to recall someone saying that
Console.app freezes on launch
"Since we've got you here, is PsuedoAnacron Snow Leopard compatible? Or is there a need for it? I seem to recall someone saying that launchd had been updated in Snow Leopard to perform somewhat like anacron, in that it looks for scheduled tasks that did not run due to the machine being asleep, powered off, etc. Does anyone know if this is true or not?"
It should be true, but for reasons I don't fully understand (maybe there is more than one cause), often scheduled tasks are missed, also in Snow Leopard. It's an issue that should have been fixed in 10.5.x too, but as as a matter of fact it is not. You can verify easily if tasks where missed: launch Pseudoanacron (you don't need to make it a login item if you don't want), it will show the last time the tasks were launched. And, yes, it's SL compatible. |
