Using textutil to convert .docx to .doc
Authored by: strummer5 on Jun 18, '10 06:43:17AM

This is a great hint...I also tried it using textutil to convert OpenOffice/NeoOffice .odt files to .doc and it appears to work. I'm playing around with automator now to a create folder action or mini-app to batch convert.

I work in a school where we've leaned on OpenOffice/NeoOffice for students but I'm trying to move everyone over to Pages for stability's sake (too many sad faces when Ooo/NO crashes in mid project). I've never been able to find an app that would bulk-convert the hundreds or thousands of odt's we have floating around. It's a shame that Apple just doesn't roll odt support into iWork since TextEdit and Quicklook already support it.
