An AppleScript droplet to change the creation date
Authored by: Fairly on Jun 03, '10 08:31:02AM

Why? Why would anyone want to change this date? Also I'm not sure whether this corresponds to the old HFS+ create field or is actually the new FreeBSD birthdate. But as it's not immutable, why change it? There are myriad applications available that already do this (and more) anyway.

An AppleScript droplet to change the creation date

the easiest way to perform this function is using graphic converter; right-click on a file while browsing and pick metadata->exif->set creation date based on EXIF.

(i prefer to use the creation date vs both; then you can keep track of edits but also sort by the original date of capture).

and to answer the question of why bother; duh ; since sorting by date is done by FILE date in most programs and even in iPhoto, internally the files are stored based on file date vs exif date; it's far cleaner when the dates are correct first.
