10.2.1: Still can't burn CD's in finder
Authored by: andrewz on Sep 19, '02 01:04:51PM

I have a LaCie SCSI CD-R drive. With 10.1, I was able to burn CD's in the Finder. When I installed 10.2, the computer no longer detected my drive as a CD-R, and System Profiler reported it as a CD-ROM. Updating my Adaptec card's firmware allowed me to at least use it with Toast. The patch mentioned above had no effect.

When I installed 10.2.1, System Profiler started referring to my drive as a "CD Write Once", but Disc Burning remained unsupported. Now when I insert a blank disc, Mac OS X asks which application I would like to open. If I select Finder, it politely says that my drive isn't supported. This is, certainly, a better user experience than "This disc isn't readable, do you want to eject it?" Now I can configure my Mac to launch Toast when I insert a CD-R.

Has anyone else with a SCSI CD-R drive been able to burn CD's in the Finder under 10.1 but not under 10.2.1?
