I did everything to the best of my ability yet I can't seem to get anything but this when I enter in ifconfig en1:

en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
ether d4:9a:20:54:6f:5c
media: <unknown subtype> (<unknown type>)
status: inactive

Help??

Hence the status<inactive>. I just recreated your problem by turning the airport off. Turn it on and you're good to go!
