10.6: Install Canon printer drivers in Snow Leopard
Authored by: axjul on May 02, '10 10:43:52AM

After an afternoon of frustration I finally succeeded in making my Canon LBP5000 printer work as a network printer in OS X.10.5.8 [the solution should work for 10.6 as well]

1. I downloaded the CAPT Printer Driver Ver.3.10 for Mac OS X 10.4/10.5/10.6 from here: http://support-nz.canon.co.nz/contents/NZ/EN/0900772205.html
2. installed the driver
3. In "Print&Fax" I added a printer, clicked on the "More Printers" tab, selected "Canon IP (CUPS CAPT) on the drop-down menu, entered the IP number of my network printer, selected my "Canon LBP5000 CAPT" printer in the "Product" window and clicked on Add
4. Now the IP of my network printer was listed in "Print&Fax" and I was able to print
