New logic board for older G5 iMacs with bad capacitors
Authored by: FrankRicho on Apr 21, '10 07:39:26AM

I just called today and got the same response Tony got. "This is a 5-year old computer. The warranty has ended. The replacement program has ended. You can pay for repair or buy a new computer."
The good news is, I went to my local Apple Store and got them to agree to drop the labor charges. But they still want $450 for a new logic board.

My feeling is this: Yes the warranty has ended and realistically a company can't be expected to cover ALL their computers FOREVER. However, Apple should have issued a recall on these computers. I shouldn't be punished because my logic board lasted 5 years instead of 3.

I'm not going to give up yet. I would like to try to call customer service, public relations or any other department at Apple that might listen to me.
