Download multiple files with Safari's Activity window
Authored by: zpjet on Feb 25, '10 12:25:18PM

Well I even provided the link to the hint with multiple selections in Activity window. And yes my point was pasting from a plain text file. Or from any multiple lines text.

Because the files from the site were sequentially played by Flash player, they wouldn't appear together in the same Activity window. SO I created the plain text file which looked like this list, and copy-pasted (try to copy it from here, if you want).

Another example could be getting all hi-res pictures from a gallery. Let's say you have a page with 100 thumbnails linked to high resolution pictures. You can go to Activity and shift-select all the pictures which would have names /pics/xxx-01-low.jpg, /pics-xxx-02-low.jpg etc. Then paste into a TextEdit, and do Find & Replace All "low" to "high". Then select all, copy, paste to Downloads and voila, you got yourself all hi-res files in Downloads folder. Of course, one needs to have a proper look where and how the URL are formatted - it could be that you need to replace "/pics/thumbs/" to "/hirespics/" or similar. But with many items, it's worth the try!

Disclaimer: I've always hated repetitive jobs. I was only ten when I attached a drill machine to a corn mill to have ob done ten times faster... Or, a few years ago, created a book of poems with 300 pages with two-hour development of php script and a single shift-click in InDesign, the job which three people used to do for a week before.
