Add Quick Look Support for MKV Files

Does anyone know of a way to undo this hint? I'm getting annoyed with Finder temporarily hanging while it tries to preview a .mkv file in Column view. This is especially annoying when the file is hosted on a network share.

I'm having the same issue. Anyone have a resolution to remove this hint?

I found a process for undoing this hint. It's not for the faint of (Terminal) hearted, but it worked for me. Download NicePlayer again and place the app on the Desktop (just the NicePlayer.app, not the disk image). In Terminal:

cd /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support

./lsregister -u -r -f ~/Desktop/NicePlayer.app
Now delete NicePlayer from your Mac and empty the trash. It's important that you do this before resetting LaunchServices or Finder, otherwise they'll just pick it up again. Back in Terminal:

./lsregister -kill
That resets the LaunchServices process. To play it safe, I also relaunched QuickLook and Finder:

qlmanage -r

killall Finder
That process got rid of the QuickLook previews for MKV files for me. Hope this helps someone else out too.
