New logic board for older G5 iMacs with bad capacitors
Authored by: jugganaut on Feb 03, '10 11:16:29AM

Thought I would chime in as well. Saw the last post and decided to give it a shot. Took my ALS 20" iMac into the Apple Store and talked with a rep there. It took a little convincing and pleading, but he eventually did agree with me and went ahead and comped the logic board and labor. I did mention that other people had been granted exceptions and that I felt like I was being penalized for Apple's defective manufacturing process.

At first he said there probably wasn't a whole lot that he would be able to do, and at first gave the price of the new logic board and said they would comp the labor. I just shook my head and explained that the computer itself wasn't worth that of a new logic board and at that point mentioned about the website.

He went back to his computer and was typing intently for a few minutes and then said that he could do it.

That was yesterday, Feb. 2nd 2010. I think that they're policy is probably if customers continue to pester the reps, they just go ahead and comp it...
