In the Finder too.

I think Comm-[ and Comm-] is easier, because you can use one hand, thumb on the Command key and your index finger on the [ or ]. I never used the arrow keys.

This key combination also works in the Finder for forward and back.

I programed the two extra buttons on my MS Itellimouse Optical to do this in the Finder and Mozilla/IE

actually, since I have an older keyboard (as I mentioned above), the command-arrows navigation was actually easier and faster than command-[ or command-]. The older keyboard has the inverted-t arrow keys immediately next to the right command key (no right option or control key). It is much faster. This is just an attempt by Apple to be more consistent with current hardware, and if you want to be cynical, to coax old users like me to upgrade their hardware. I've used the new "pro" keyboards, and I much prefer the mini keyboard. Oh well.
