MTR is now at V4, and active. You *MUST* gift in order to get it. The forum URL was posted here already.

I use 0Sex, however, when doing this, because it's a little easier to extract *JUST* the bit I want with it. However, 0Sex is in fact seemingly dead. It still "Just Works", however.

Once you have the AC3 file, you can use ffmpegx as described in the link in the OP. You do not need Video to convert to MP3.

I did this to create ring tones for my wife. I grabbed the intro to a TV show she likes, converted it to MP3 format, loaded it in Garage Band, edited it down to 40 seconds, and sent it to iTunes as a ring tone.

I'm not sure I understand how your comment applies to this hint, because the hint is about creating DVDs, not ripping them.
