Control third-party menu bar icon order via Automator
If you're using Automator to load your startup apps, does that then speed up the general startup process for you? Once the Finder is up and running are you free to go about your usual tasks while Automator takes care of loading your apps or do you have to wait until it's finished before proceeding?
I do a similar trick with QuicKeys (I suppose you could use Automator instead) where I mount a fileserver and open Firefox, Mail, Adium and a Calendar program during the first 5 minutes after startup. I hate waiting so long for startup. I'm interested in anything that will let me cut my boot time by running a process in the background. I assume Automator will run in the background and stay there... yes? Maybe I could control the order of my menu bar icons and cut the speed of startup way back if I switched to Automator. |
