I have MBP with 10.6 on it
i did what they recommended see the screen shot:

it does not do what I want anyway.

the ping on mac works like this:
$ ping hp
PING hp.hsd1.or.comcast.net (208.67.216.132): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 208.67.216.132: icmp_seq=0 ttl=56 time=18.276 ms
64 bytes from 208.67.216.132: icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 time=25.153 ms
64 bytes from 208.67.216.132: icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=26.193 ms


but on windows:
>ping hp
Pinging hp 192.168.1.4 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.4: bytes=32 time
