Completely disable quarantine of downloaded files

I was really excited to read this - but does it actually work for any of you?

As a test (after rebooting) I tried to download a couple of dmg files from Apples software update (apple.com/swupdates), but I've had no luck getting any file without the 'com.apple.quarantine' nuisance :-(

It popped up on me after I downloaded a freeware app from Macupdate. Damn!

It worked as described for me. Did you restart?

Worked for me as described on two machines (MacOS 10.5 and MacOS 10.6 as well). Did you copy/paste the command from here to the terminal? Otherwise the might have been a mistyping...
