10.6: Reinstall 'special' System Preferences panels
[robg adds: I installed the Processor preference panel from the latest Xcode, and it seems to let me control the number of active CPUs, but the option to display the controller in the menu bar isn't working.]I am having the same issue on 10.6.2. I installed the latest Xcode Developer tools dmg from the Apple site to gain access to the "Processor.prefpane" file. I installed it, but when I click on the icon in the System Prefs window it says it needs to relaunch the prefs window to show it. I say Ok and it relaunches then shows me the CPUs, Hyperthreading toggle and the Show in menu toggle. NONE of the toggles save when I exit System Preferences. I can't even turn off any of the CPUs. I've tried running the Processor.prefpane file while booted in 32bit & 64bit mode. Same results. I do have the file running perfectly fine on a 10.5.6 machine. Installed it from the Leopard disk for that one. Any thoughts on getting it working on 10.6.2? ---
