Brother Ethernet printers and LPR via IP

I have a Brother HL5250DN -- not a bad printer. Worked great under Windows. Under 10.6 there is a nice CUPS driver, but like I am discovering on the Mac, many things don't work well out-of-the-box :-(

To get duplex printing to work, there is no option in the correct driver. But using a generic PCL driver there is a duplex option, but it will not work unless you go thru some convoluted path to access the actual printer setting in an application where you can actually cause the selected duplex mode to actually print in actual duplex.

Actually, I would have expected it to just work, and after a lot of stoopid fiddling, it finally does. So now I am happy :-)
