New logic board for older G5 iMacs with bad capacitors
Authored by: guyfawkes on Oct 26, '09 03:16:05PM

My first generation 2004 Imac G5 finally started to have problems. It now boots up to a blank screen. And the fan is extremely loud. Could this be the logic board??? I called applecare inquiring to get it replaced. They said mine was covered until they looked at my serial numbers, at which point they said its not covered because there were only certain imac's ending in a certain serial number sequence that were covered. because they found these to be more problem prone. Anyone else come across this issue. Any tips on getting around this?? thanks!
