Works just fine on my Mac Mini with an external Firewire array. Sounds very likely your disks are bad to begin with.

Also, if SuperDuper is a solution to your problems in any way, then you don't need RAID in the first place. RAID is not backup, and should never be used as such. It is for high availability to protect against hardware failure. Any sort of software error or corruption will immediately destroy both disks.

If SuperDuper is getting the job done, then the job is backup, not high availability.
