10.6: Move message in Mail via a keyboard shortcut
I tried this once and instead of moving the files to the appropriate mailbox, it COPIED them instead. This is because in the Messages menu in Mail, there is a "move to" and a "copy to" option. If I tell the keyboard shortcut that I want a specific short cut for my "Personal" mailbox for example, it will move rather than copy the selected message because C comes before M in the alphabet. Does anybody know what I am talking about? I can't figure out how to specify which submenu item my shortcut will activate.

Yes, my experience exactly as well.

Odd, the hint works perfectly for me: moves the targeted email, doesn't copy it.

Well, I tried it again now, and by golly, it does move rather than copy. Could have sworn I tried this already under 10.6 and it only copied. But hey, I'll take it. Using 10.6.1 and ctrl-G for my shortcut (defined as a Mail.app-only shortcut).

I tried it again and it copies rather than movies. How do you do it? What am I doing wrong?

I also made the experience that the shortcut rather copied my mails instead of moving them. But I think I might have found the solution for this: Try moving a mail by using your mouse and the normal way through the menu. After I moved one email manually, my shortcuts also moved emails (instead of copying them). |
