Work around a too-quiet MacBook Pro audio issue

Your MacBook Pro has optical audio output. If you use that instead of a standard "headphone" minijack, then you can boost the volume on your audio amp without sacrificing any quality. Ramping up the gain before you send out the signal is not going to do pretty things to the sound.

On re-reading, noticed the bit about "all volumes to the max" already. Really? On your amp, too? There is something terribly wrong with your setup, then, aside from the MBP's volume threshold.
