Older wireless Macs and D-Link wireless N routers

I tried the "guest zone" with both WPA and WEP passwords, but encountered the same problem. The original post makes it sound so simple to change the WLAN mode of B, G, N to just B and G. How do you do this in Firmware Version: 1.32NA??? I don't need my older mac to connect often so I would just switch the router when I need to connect (if that is possible). Did most of you just use your older router as a bridge?
