10.6: Permanently disable spelling correction in TextEdit
Is this feature, although triggered in TextEdit, actually more global in Snow Leopard? Because it was affecting me in other apps, such as in comment boxes on the internet using Safari. I have enough trouble writing well in English and this was constantly making my comments look stupid. I am not analfabeto!

Man, I *wish* TextEdit was the controlling entity for this. I've been trying since way back in Leopard to figure out how to get iCal to stop underlining people's last names in red all the time. I can turn off "Check spelling as you type" in a given event's Notes field (via a right-click), but it always comes back the next time I create/edit another (or the same!) event... |
