10.6: Sleep and lock display with hot corner
Authored by: lar3ry on Sep 22, '09 10:34:31AM

This bothered me a long time ago (Tiger? Panther?). The solution I found was to have my "screensaver" run an application or AppleScript that invokes display sleep.

The program is/was ScriptSaver and it worked flawlessly for me. My screen saver would effectively turn off the display, and since it was a screen saver, you would need to enter a password to unlock the display.

Bad news: Desktop and Screen Saver preferences in Snow Leopard claim that ScriptSaver 2.10 (the version I'm running) is incompatible and to contact the vendor for the upgrade.

Good news: ScriptSaver 2.11 claims to be Snow Leopard compliant! (I haven't tested this yet, though.)
