10.6: Exclude words from spelling auto-correction
Interesting one this. It would be less of a pain if reversing the auto-correction was easier. In Microsoft Word for instance, you press undo and all that is undone is the auto-correction. In Pages, undo kills the last letter or two typed as well so you just encounter the same problem over and over again, and the easiest way to stop it seems to be to keep typing and then come back and force the issue. In Numbers this is even more of a pain with the three-click focus to edit cell text issue.
10.6: Exclude words from spelling auto-correction
Agreed that reversing the correction should be easier in Pages. But on my Snow Leopard system, Pages is the *only* app that replaces the hint's example (omg) with Omega. This is because of the "Automatically use spell checker suggestions" preference. I've seen the rest of the system automatically correct, iPhone-style, words with swapped characters ('teh' to 'the' but with many more words), but that option doesn't appear in TextEdit or the "Language & Text" prefPane. |
