⌘-left-click reveals in Finder; ⌘-right-click suppresses the application contextual menu items, which is what this hint is about. Ctrl is not necessary; ⌘-ctrl-left-click is simply the other way to ⌘-right-click, just as ctrl-left-click is the other way to right-click.

You do not need to ⌘-ctrl-right-click; indeed, that would be pointless, as the only reason to involve ctrl is to fake a right-click using a ctrl-left-click.
