10.6: More Finder-like keyboard navigation in Stacks

Good hint. In addition, in Grid, Fan, or List mode in Stacks, you can just press the starting letter of the folder or file you wish to get to, and it jumps right there (just like Finder, really). If you're quick enough, you can type the first two or three letters to be more specific. In Grid or Fan mode, to get to the start of the items, hit Space (this won't work in List view). To exit, hit Esc or Command-fullstop (period).

Regrettably, however, using the arrow keys to navigate around in either Grid or Fan mode, there is no "wrapping" from one line to the next (Grid) or from top to bottom (Fan). BUT, if you are using Tab and Shift-Tab to navigate, the hover point will wrap as expected. Strange. So I just keep my left hand on Tab and my right hand on the arrows if in Grid mode. :)

List mode does not allow the use of Tab/Shift-Tab, although it is my favourite view for large stacks.

Not much of this is new, but it is relevant I think to the heading of this hint. Hope it helps.
