Solve a Mac Mini invalid resolution issue after install

Some other options:
1. Try to reboot in safe mode (hold shift key during boot).

2. If remote login is enabled, ssh into the Mac and delete the following files:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.*.plist

3. If you've created any custom monitor resolutions using third party video tools like DisplayConfigX or SwitchResX, delete the custom monitor profile(s) in /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/, named DisplayVendorID-xxxx. Should be the newest created file if you sort by date, it's date will be much newer than the rest. The OS installed ones should be oldest and all have identical creation date/time so your custom one(s) will stand out.
