Is this really an iPhone feature? You're muxing the subtitles so they're burned into the movie. I think that would make them display on any device.

The presence of the Subtitle button seems to indicate that the iPhone senses the subtitle track, as opposed to it just appearing as part of the burned movie.

I see. I've been wondering when Apple will start shipping subtitles with their movie rentals and purchases. This is at least an indication they've thought about it, I guess.

Yes, "burned" subs are very different from "muxed" subs. Burned subs are part of the video image, and will appear whenever the video is played, no matter the platform or media player. |
