A possible disk-format-related cause of general Mac issues

I have to think something else was at play as well. I run one system with an MBR formatted OS X disk as well, and have no problems. A case-sensitive filesystem is MUCH more likely to cause the types of issues reported. In general, no OS cares what type of partition map you have, as long as it can find the start and end points of the partition itself.
