Place Google Voice calls directly from Contacts on iPhone

For those who don't know - -

Another way to direct dial from the iPhone: Have friends send you a text. Google will assign your friend a phone number in the 406 area code. You can direct dial that phone number from your iPhone. Your friend will see your GV number in the CallerID. The 406 number is like any other number in your Contacts. You can put it in your favorites. Also note: You can only call the 406 number from one of YOUR registered GV phones, and you can't give the 406 number to another friend and tell them to use it. Calling the 406 from other phones will fail.

The 406 number and your GV account create a mapping to your friend's mobile. This method doesn't help with landlines as only contacts who text you are assigned a 406 number.
