Disable iPhone 3.0 Hotspot login on jailbroken iPhones

For those who have not jailbroken, or those who have and simply want another way, what you can do is simply manually add the wireless network through the "Other..." option on your Wi-Fi networks screen.

Pop in the SSID there, with the security set to none, and that will join the network without trying to verify if it is a hotspot or not.

Watch that SSID people, it is case sensitive. :)

+1 for you. I'll have to give it a shot. Although I don't foresee needing to access www.apple.com in the near future, I do worry that if www.apple.com was hardcoded for this, it might be hardcoded somewhere else too.

That stills brings up the login WebSheet for me, after an inconsistent delay before the WiFi connection shows up in the status bar.

Disable iPhone 3.0 Hotspot login on jailbroken iPhones

This is an issue that I have had to deal with at my institution's hotspot. My experience is that manually entering the network name doesn't always work...

I have had success with this technique with an iPhone 3G and an iPod Touch 2nd generation but NOT with an iPod Touch 1st generation. This is particulary frustrating because the 1st gen Touch is mine...

Apple really does need to fix this.
