Use a shortcut to reach iPhone 3.0's search screen

I'd really just like to repeat something I said earlier. This site is for advanced users and beginners, so just because you already know something, or you think lots of people know something, that is not a reason to complain about the hint being posted. I'm tired of seeing comments that imply a certain level of "elegibility" for a hint, as if only superhacks and brand new features should be posted. If a hint hasn't been mentioned here, on this very site, then it's fair game and prudent to add it to the huge base of useful knowledge, whether or not you approve. I send a great many beginners to this site to pick up rudimentary tips, and I really don't want them to get discouraged when power users make fun of simpler well known hints. Just move on, and keep your trap shut. Pretty please. Rob

I agree, there is certainly room for hints at ALL levels of expertise. As a fairly advanced user, even if I already know a basic hint, it helps to be reminded of it. Or I often learn something from the comments. Except of course the snide, Comic-Book-Guy-ish ones that are only meant to show how "superior" the writer thinks he is. If anything is a waste of time and space it's the sarcastic sniping.

Allow me to explain

Since I am the one who said 'this is not a hint', let me try to exlain what I meant to say.
Ofcourse, as a simple visitor of this site, I am in no position what so ever to decide what should be posted here.
However, I was under the impression that the hints normally posted here are from the 'normally there is no make the computer do X, but if you follow these step, it will do X!' kind, or the 'lot's of people have difficulties doing Y, but if you do this and that, you can do Y' kind.
The hint we are talking about here is of the 'it is not on the first page of the quick manual, but did you know you can do Z?' kind.

It has nothing to do with being elitist (I am not by a long shot), but just with the fact that I, personally, expect to find 'tweaks' here instead of just tips that CAN be found in the manual or on lots of websites already.
Come to think of it, maybe MacOSXHINTS isn't really the best name for a site wich, as I see it, used to be about tweaks and directions for stuff that's hard to do for most people.

Like I said, it's up to you, the webmaster(s) to decide what get's posted here, but as a webmaster I would also like to get some insight in what the readers think about the content of the site. Well, that's just what this is; my two cents.

Keep up the good work.
