You could also have just opened the folder, looked in Contents > MacOS and gotten the program name from there.

BBEdit (and the freeware TextWrangler) are good options for doing this type of directory comparisons:

E.g.:
- Open a new document in TextWrangler
- drag the new Applications folder in to the Textwrangler window
- Open another document in TextWrangler
- drag the backup Applications folder in to the 2nd TextWrangler window
- select "Compare two front documents" from the Search menu of TextWrangler

This will create a list of differences between the two directory structures that should be pretty easy to figure out what has changed...

Matt

I would just open Terminal and run a simple "diff /path/to/folder1 /path/to/folder2" to compare to directories. It gives me a nice, easy to understand summary of all the differences. Does TextWrangler provide something more than this?
