10.5: Issues with Adobe CS4 apps and Spaces in 10.5.7
This is just more justification for my decision to dump all Adobe and Micro$oft software. The "not officially supported" canard is a pathetic excuse for not coding their apps properly. If they followed Apple's guidelines, their apps would run at decent speed, not be broken by OS updates - and every single OS feature would work with them, as they work with all other apps.

Take your opinion somewhere else; no one cares. People who use Adobe apps for professional work have no alternatives. They make the best graphics tools in the industry.

I always get a chuckle out of pot. kettle. black.

I don't know for Adobe. But I read from a Microsoft engineer, that it's an Apple problem. At least the Spaces issues with Office. It seems the problem lies with the Carbon libraries MS-Office is using. Apple is supposedly aware of the situation and did acknowledge it in front of Microsoft. It seems to me, since MS is using "old" Carbon libraries, solving the issue isn't on the agenda for Apple. It may well be the same with Adobe ...
You can read the whole story here: http://www.schwieb.com/blog/2008/10/23/risks-and-rewards/ (it's a bit lengthy ... just search for "Spaces" and you will find the corresponding paragraph).

Yes, I read elsewhere that Adobe has acknowledged the unreliable nature of Spaces in CS, and that it was directly related to Carbon, therefore 'Apple's fault.' This makes sense, but I do hope they plan on updating their code instead of just tacking new stuff onto a big broken pile (remember how much they freaked over the Intel switch...) |
