'Emergency use only' hard drive for a MacBook Pro
This is exactly why I always carry my 3.5" PATA, 2.5" PATA, and SATA to USB 2 adapter with me at all times. for $30.00 it has paid for itself many times over.

I've often thought of getting one of these adapters; although then you'd be calling up MacOSXHints to get your Mac to boot from USB - because if I understand correctly the adapter bridges from USB2 on one side to SATA or IDE on the other. You can't go from IDE to SATA or vice versa, correct? Secondly, you would need to supply power for any drive you use and that is external to the adapter as well, is it not? |
