New logic board for older G5 iMacs with bad capacitors
Authored by: swedane on Apr 18, '09 03:50:59PM

This, I'm sure, is exactly what's wrong with my iMac G5, 2 GHz 2005 model.
In 2007 -and still under warranty- I had the power supply replaced.
All was well up until a couple of month ago. When the screen, for no good reason, would go black, soon returning to normal, then go black again.
This happens only when I watch videos online or play online shockwave games, e.g., jigsaw puzzles.

I will take my iMac apart and see if the problem is bulging capacitors. If so I'll take it to our local Apple rep, and report back here.

Thanks so much for making your experience public!
