Burn an AVI movie with subtitles to a DVD in one step
hi,
Burn an AVI movie with subtitles to a DVD in one step
"the last line of hint is deceptively simple - you can use toast etc to burn. does anyone know a little more on how this works ?"
Sure. The DVD burner uses a laser to scorch a transparent organic dye (usually cyanine, phthalocyanine, or azo compound-based) to create "pits" (i.e. dark spots) over a reflective spiral groove. "does it burn the subtitles directly into the avi file ?" No. However, if you open the .avi file with Perian installed, you can then save a self-contained .mov file which will have the subtitles embedded in a single file. "does it work with any burning tool ?" I would strongly advise against using a Zippo lighter or an acetylene blowtorch for the task, as the necessary precision is difficult to achieve. However, it will work with any disk burning software. |
