Access all Exposé modes on new keyboards
Authored by: palahala on Apr 10, '09 07:54:45AM

The odd thing is that my Preferences for a Mac Mini with an aluminum keyboard that does have the dedicated F3 Exposé key, still shows F9, F10 and F11 for the following. Just like with the first genearations MacBooks:

  • All Windows: F9 (actually requiring fn-F9, but F3 works too)
  • Application Windows: F10 (fn-F10, Ctrl-F3 works too)
  • Desktop: F11 (fn-F11, Cmd-F3 works too)

(I find a keyboard shortcut for the preferences not quite useful, and I actually liked F10 rather than Ctrl-F3 better, but well, Apple needed some remapping to add the Play, Rewind and Forward buttons...)

On the stand alone keyboard it's not a big gain, but on portables you no longer have to hold the function key with your left hand and press F9~11 right. It can now be done with the left hand alone, (and that is a huge improvement for me!)
